Nicknamed the Pinellas Suncoast, Clearwater is located on Florida's west coast, bordered by Tampa Bay to the northeast and the Gulf of Mexico to the west. With almost 400 miles of shoreline, including 35 miles of soft sands, the region has some of the best beaches in the country. Clearwater Beach is very popular with families. Caladesi Island State Park is located just north of Clearwater Beach which is a great place for swimming and looking for shells.  

In town, The Pier, jutting out into Tampa Bay, serves as a St. Petersburg's landmark and tourist hub. The five floor dining and shopping complex includes an aquarium with lots of informative exhibits. You can rent fishing rods along the seawall, as well as tandem bikes to allow you to explore the area. In the evenings, the whole place buzzes with life as people gather by Pier 60 to witness the spectacular sunsets while musicians, jugglers and magicians get the party started.    

The Garden Memorial Causeway in downtown Clearwater is just as lively. Oak and palm lined streets are filled with restaurants,bars and shopping malls. You may appreciate a  visit to the Salvador Dali Museum. Look out for special exhibits that profile Dali’s life and work, as well as those of artists like Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, and others. At the 245 acre Boyd Hill Nature Preserve along the shores of Lake Maggiore, look out for gators sunning themselves on logs, turtles relaxing by the shore, and butterflies in the garden.

Take advantage of the glorious Gulf Coast weather to bike, jog, stroll, and rollerblade along the Pinellas Trail, a paved 34 mile path that stretches from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs, a town known for its Greek heritage. If you’d rather explore the area by water, head to the yacht packed marina where boat tours, dolphin trips and dinner cruises are all available and visit one of the areas state parks on Anclote Key, Honeymoon Island, Caladesi Island, and Egmont Key. Savor 35 miles of sandy beaches and splash in calm Gulf waters. If you want to visit Florida’s famous theme parks, you’re in a great location.  Busch Gardens is only 30 minutes away and Walt Disney World and Universal can be reached in less than an hour and a half.
