Gold Coast Holidays

Stretching for about 60 miles down Florida's southeast coast from luxurious Palm Beach in the north to Miami Beach, lie a string of tropical, sunny and sandy beach resorts, collectively known as the Gold Coast. The name Gold Coast comes from the coins that occasionally wash up on the shore. This is due to a large number of Spanish Galleons that sank off the coast carrying large amounts of gold and silver coins. However, the term is also used as a double entendre to indicate the fabulous wealth that has accrued in the area, especially near the coast such as Miami and Palm Beach.

The best way to explore it all is to take a drive along Florida A1A, a narrow road that winds along the coast connecting the long thin barrier islands that give the area its myriad golden sandy beaches.
