Catch a ferry to the Statue of Liberty on an island in the middle of New York Harbour.
Manhattan.
Walk around Soho which is alive with boutiques, art galleries, lovely converted warehouses, chain stores and brilliant shopping areas.
Go to Chinatown and Little Italy for delicious food, and intriguing places such as streets with pretty craft shops and food stores.
Little Italy has Old St Patrick’s Cathedral which is worth a look round for a quiet moment from the buzz of the Manhattan streets.
Take a walking tour of Greenwich Village and see where many of your favourite singers such as Bob Dylan started out. Also the important alternative newspaper against the Vietnam War, the Village Voice was first printed there. It is now a rich area but is still very pretty around McDougal Alley with lovely 19th century family houses, which is very unusual for New York.
Make sure you book to see a show or concert at the fabulous Lincoln Centre with its massive fountain in the courtyard.
Take a tour of The Empire State Building. You can’t miss it. It’s waiting for you!
The Museum of Modern Art on Upper East Side cannot be recommended enough. Just go there!!They have had to enlarge it to 630000 sq ft it is so popular. See Picassos, Cézannes, Mark Rothko and many others. Also Furniture Design pieces are beautifully staged there.
Times Square and The Theatre District is in the middle of Midtown Manhattan. Take in a glittery musical. But better still see an Off Broadway Play!
See Millionaire’s Row in 5th Avenue and around where the mansion buildings have been converted into Museum Mile.
Enjoy the sunset view over the Hudson River after you’ve bought something good to eat from, The 79th Street Boat Basin.
